Let's get it right out of the way. While his critics will use his legal troubles against him, the arguments and evidence in this book (and the movie) should stand on their own. I think they are solid and stand up powerfully. Remember, when you have the facts, you argue the facts. When you don't have the facts, you argue the law, and when you don't have the facts or the law on your side, you attack the person. When you hear his opponents bad mouthing Dinesh D'Souza personally, you know they do not have an argument to make. This is why you hear politicians trying to turn themselves into victims of personal attacks because it serves to deflect the serious arguments being made against their policies and actions in office. Be alert, my friends. Be alert!

The idea of this book isn't that America is about to disappear any time soon, but rather that we are in the middle of a fundamental transformation so profound and severe that it changes what America is and her place in the world. Essentially, the country will have the same name, but the new management has transformed it from its traditional principles to radically new ideas completely disconnected from and antithetical to those of its founding and history. I think we can see this clearly. Of course, if you like the new ideas, you think it is a wonderful thing. If, like me, you despise the new ideas and revere the founding and traditions, you are horrified by what is taking place. But that it is taking place seems obvious and not debatable to me. How about you?

He sets up the argument that the end of American Civilization is the end of Western Civilization since Europe is already in thrall to the Left and Socialist ideals.

This is an easy to read book, well written, and persuasive -- adding great points to the discussion of why the nation is not where it should be, given the great record of benevolence and greatness that America has accumulated over the previous 100 years. America: Imagine a World without Her by the academician Dinesh D'Souza also attempts to answers the nagging questions of what needs to be done to get it back on track, while refuting every accusation leveled by her liberal critics for her historic record.

Despite the temporary setbacks in the nation, given an out-of control government; profligate public expenditures with a monstrously escalating national debt; the abuses and corruption of the redistributive welfare state, maintained by an increasing tax burden on middle class Americans; and the prevailing progressive accusatory views in liberal academia, progressive Hollywood, and the popular culture -- D'Souza thinks America is still great and worth defending.

In America: Imagine a World without Her, D'Souza mounts a formidable defense of America's traditional values and debunks the progressive arguments that America is a force for inequality and injustice needing to be reformed under the aegis of an all-powerful but caring federal government.

It is ironic that it has been not only Tea Party activists, but distinguished conservative authors, including Dinesh D'Souza and the neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson, who have been single out for political IRS investigations and harassment. One suspects this is for their outspoken conservative views, such as those espoused in their recent books, including this magnificent tome, America: Imagine a World without Her.

I'm an immigrant just like Dinesh and I love that about him. Most people think that if you are conservative you must be white but there's nothing further from reality.

Growing up I dreamed about coming to America. I didn't dream about coming to North Korea or Cuba.

I have always believed in American values and principles.

This is by far the best book I have read in years. It is provocative, shocking, educational and prophetic. It reads like a novel and is as relevant as air. Early in the book Dinesh D’Souza lays out three indicators that prove America is on the decline. “First, the American economy is stagnant and shrinking relative to the economies of China. Russia, India and Brazil…Second, America is drowning in debt. While China is the world’s largest creditor nation, America is the world’s largest debtor nation. At $17 trillion, the national debt is now bigger than the total sum of goods and services that America produces in a year…Finally, America is losing it’s position in the world.” I know of no one that could argue with D'Souza's three points.

How is this for perspective? “America became the sole superpower only when the Soviet Union collapsed, in 1992.” That makes is the sole world leader for only two decades. “When we consider that the Roman Age lasted a thousand years, and the Ottomans and the British dominated the world for several centuries, America’s dominance seems brief, and already it is precarious.”

D’Souza the master of debate flips the progressives argument and states that “the progressives are the real thieves, in that they use the power of the state to seize the property and possessions of people who have earned them. In the name of the ordinary citizen, progressives have declared war on the wealth creators. Yet they are not on the side of the ordinary citizen, because their policies lead to stagnation, impoverishment, indebtedness, and decline – all in evidence today.”

“Both sides love America, but they love a different type of America.
